Operational experience

Oliver Markl is a Partner at Pava. He looks back on more than a decade of technology M&A with a focus on semiconductors, deep tech and industrial technology at partner level.

For the past eight years, Oliver was a partner at international London-based M&A boutiques. In the last five years alone, he has successfully advised on numerous international M&A transactions in the Semicon market, including the sale of a majority stake in AP&S (wet bench equipment), a $35 million fundraising for PTSL (probe cards), the exits of Sico Technology (silicon furnaceware) to Wietersdorfer Group, ERS electronic (advanced packaging) to Gimv and Creative Chips (ASIC) to Renesas / Dialog.

Oliver started his career in M&A at JPMorgan, where he worked for seven years in London and Paris. He then joined a mid-market PE fund where he completed eight transactions in five European countries and guided these portfolio companies through to exit. He then founded Sport Alliance GmbH in Hamburg with a partner, which he managed as Co-CEO. As the market leader in Germany, the company offers a SaaS solution for fitness studios, which is used by over 5 million gym members today.

Education

Oliver Markl holds a degree in engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, with a major in applied mathematics, and a diploma in international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna.
